We have been implementing individual operating solutions at the man-machine interface for over 24 years. Operation must be precise, safe and intuitive. The most important criterion is complete cleanability and disinfectability to prevent contamination and germ transfer. At the same time, the equipment must be protected against the ingress of dust, germs, and liquids and grease.

Why do medical environments require special user interfaces?

Not only in times of epidemics and pandemics is there an increased risk of infection in hygiene-critical environments. It is precisely here that the incidence of pathogens is particularly high throughout the year.

One of the most effective weapons against unnecessary infection is compliance with strict hygiene measures. In practice, however, these often defined standards are not always adhered to due to a lack of time and personnel. This can cost lives.

In Germany alone, up to 20,000 people die each year due to the health consequences of hospital germs.

This must be prevented!

In everyday medical practice, operating solutions are greatly underestimated as germ-spreading areas. Cracks and furrows are ideal places where pathogens can collect and multiply unnoticed. For immunocompromised patients, such as those in intensive care units, this circumstance is particularly fatal. Here, it is important to remove all sources of danger that could lead to an aggravation of the patient’s state of health.

To avoid invisible sources of danger, special technologies are required in the manufacture of equipment used in medical environments. Only then do viruses and bacteria have the least chance of survival and the transmission of infectious diseases is effectively prevented.

Optical controls NEW

The contactless switch works by means of a special technology and has three different states: standby, approach and triggering. These are visualized by brightness and color. The non-contact operation of the switch is possible with and without gloves and ensures maximum hygiene at the point of use.

Capacitive operating technologies

These are surfaces on which the user can operate by touch without pressure. The technology enables a flat design and both glass and other non-conductive materials, such as polyacrylic or polycarbonate, are suitable as cover materials.

Capacitive Button

Compared to mechanical buttons, capacitive pushbuttons are flat, mechanically wear-free, easy to clean and disinfect, visually appealing, and easily integrated into existing systems. Capacitive styli use individual sensors that generate electric fields. This field penetrates a variety of materials. The most popular is glass.

Silicone keyboards

Silicone mats are particularly durable, reliable and have almost unlimited design possibilities. Colors and shapes of the keycaps are freely definable. Silicone mats are made of highly elastic, toxin-free silicone rubber.

Foil Keypads

Membrane keypads are the most commonly used input elements in device and apparatus engineering – they are still among the first choice in medical environments. In addition to classic key embossing, resin-based haptic feedback or the application of a haptic varnish is also possible. In most cases, membrane keyboards are integrated into systems by gluing them in place.
